Tata Sons chairman Cyrus P. Mistry will come to attend Founder's Day celebrations in Jamshedpur as chief guest, which makes it his fifth time in a row since 2012 when he first attended the gala with his mentor Ratan Tata.

The soft-spoken Mistry (47) will be the main attraction during the 177th Founder's Day celebrations inside Tata Steel works on Thursday morning where more than 38 units of Tata Steel and Tata Group companies will pay homage to Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata on his birth anniversary with colourful tableaux and floats based on an apt theme for the occasion, Future Ready: Nai Soch, Naye Kadam (new vision, new steps).

A pioneering industrialist, Tata's vision of doing business with social and ecological responsibility was decades ahead of his time.

Tata's statue near the Works' main gate, will, as usual, be the focus of celebrations.

"Despite tough times, we are ready for future challenges and our units will showcase their achievements and innovations to meet the challenges through models and tableaux during the Founder's Day parade," Tata Steel vice-president (corporate services) Sunil Bhaskaran said at a media briefing at SNTI hall in Bistupur on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Mistry will also flag off the pageantry from Bistupur Postal Park consisting tableaux by Tata Steel and its subsidiary units, associated companies, Rapid Action Force, Jharkhand Armed Police, social and community organisations, NGOs and schoolchildren. Selected floats would be kept at Ganesh Puja Maidan in Kadma for the public from 3pm to 10pm.

On Wednesday evening, Tata Sons director Ishaat Hussain will switch on the illuminations, the biggest attraction of Founder's Day celebrations, at Jubilee Park. Simultaneously, illuminations will also be switched on at Sir Dorabji Park (Northern Town), Bhetia Park (Kadma), Postal Park (Bistupur) and Nildih Park (near Telco) as well as important arteries and roundabouts at Sakchi, Office Road and Jubilee Road.

A technical exhibition on Future Ready, put up by trainee engineers at SNTI, Bistupur, will be inaugurated by Tata Sons group chief technology officer Gopichand Katragadda on Wednesday evening. The exhibits will be on new-age transformation, digitalisation, engineering excellence, emerging technologies, technical creativity, sustainability, cutting-edge solutions and innovations.

There will also be special musical laser show at Beldih Lake from March 2 to 5.
