Covid recoveries three times the number of fresh cases

The number of Covid recoveries reported in Jharkhand on Sunday was thrice as much the fresh cases that surfaced, government data highlighted.

As per a bulletin released by the National Health Mission (NHM) late on Sunday evening, as many as 22 fresh cases of Covid-19 infection were reported in the state and at least 69 infected patients won their battle against the deadly virus in the day.

The count of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 infection has already surpassed the number of active cases in Jharkhand.

According to NHM, as many as 2,364 Covid cases have been reported in the state so far and 1793 of these patients have recovered. The number of active cases here stood at 559 on Sunday, the NHM bulletin stated.

The recovery rate in Jharkhand rose to 75.84 per cent against the national average of 58.56 per cent, government data stated. The mortality rate in state was 0.50 per cent on Sunday, much lower than the national Covid mortality rate of 3.04 per cent, the bulletin further said.

According to NHM, the doubling rate for Covid-19 in Jharkhand was 40.65 days on Sunday against a national doubling rate of 19.16. The growth rate in Jharkhand for Covid-19 infection is 1.72 per cent, and the national growth rate is 3.68 per cent.

Migrants account for more than 75 per cent of the Covid cases in the state. Out of the 2364 cases, 1950 are migrants, the NHM bulletin said.

The government has so far collected samples of 1.38 lakh Covid suspects from across the state and tested around 1.37 lakh of them. Around 3 lakh people have been put in home quarantine in the state and over 30,000 have been sent to institutional quarantine, NHM figures further said.
