Dhanbad, July 20: Dhanbad police arrested Naseem Ansari, the main supplier of blue film videos, from a local bus stand on Sunday to bust a blue film racket operating in the coal belt and adjoining districts of Bokaro and Giridih.

“In the recent past the coal belt has witnessed a sharp rise in sex-related violence. The racket mostly targets school kids. Further, the entire atmosphere remains vitiated with the easy availability of child pornographic material. We have conducted extensive raids on the basis of information provided by Naseem Ansari. We have information that the pirated videos of pornographic films are mostly manufactured in Jharia. However, we are yet to nab the entire gang,” the deputy superintendent of police (Law and Order) Sudarshan Prasad Mandal said.

“A local resident informed us about the racket. On the basis of tip-off, we raided Raunak Electronics and Gane Anjane, the two shops in Jharia, last night and seized pornographic films. Rajiv Gupta and Pappu Gupta, the owners of the shops, were also arrested and taken in remand for further interrogation,” he said.

Dhanbad police raided video parlours at Rajganj, Barwadda, Chas, Godhar, Kenduadih, Dhansar, Bank More, Saraidhela and Hirapur and seized thousands of pornographic videos on Sunday.

The shop owners charged Rs 40 for each CD, which was given to old-time customers or the new entrants only after taking them into confidence, sources said.
