The retail website, developed by a Delhi-based company, Radiant eCommerce Private Limited, was launched in Ranchi on Wednesday.

It made a debut in big cities two months ago with orders already pouring in not only from customers from Delhi, Calcutta, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and also those from the UK, the US, New Zealand, Middle East and West Indies.

Asked about the reason for coming up with a retail website for Chhath, the founder-CEO of the company, Sudhakar Sharan, said, "I belong to Patna and after shifting to Delhi, I realised how residents who have shifted from eastern parts of India to metro cities are unable to procure Chhath Puja essentials in local stores. Since they are occupied with their job, they cannot visit their hometown to observe this festival. Hence, I decided to design this portal."

He further said that he had received the first order from Florida in the US and promptly sent the standard arghya (offering) basket and samagri within three days by air.

"Just select Chhath Puja item of your choice and enter the details, we will be on your doorstep," Sharan said, adding that though payments were accepted through credit cards, they also had the cash on delivery option.

The products are also priced lesser than those available at the markets. The rates range from Rs 250 for the mini arghya basket to Rs 3,500 for the standard arghya basket.

All products are eco-friendly and organic.

"We have 44 puja items in standard arghya basket and our rates are quite nominal. If one purchases the same items from the local market, the price goes up to Rs 5000 to Rs 6000 per basket," Sharan said.

The mini baskets are useful for those who donate Chhath Puja paraphernalia to devotees. There are 13 items that are required during morning and evening arghya.
