Hazaribagh’s new civil surgeon Dr R.S. Vandana, who took charge on Monday, promised to streamline the district’s ailing healthcare system by plugging in all loopholes.

A well-known gynaecologist, Vandana, who was in-charge of Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital’s maternity ward, particularly spoke about the state-run heal hub, saying that she was aware of middlemen fleecing patients and their relatives there and  would take necessary steps to curb the menace. Besides, she would ensure that the maternity ward was well-equipped.

“I request hospital staff and doctors to take up their duties seriously. I know that if they work responsibly, the clout of middlemen will end automatically,” the district’s second woman doctor since 1998 to be appointed as the civil surgeon said.

“I know my priorities and the only thing I want is people returning satisfied from the sadar hospital,” she added.

On mushrooming of illegal nursing homes, the city’s 53rd surgeon promised to do the needful. “There are complaints against such nursing homes who don’t even having qualified doctors,” she said.

The civil surgeon further said she would crack the whip on quacks practising illegally in towns and different blocks.
