Carmel Junior College beat Kerala Public School (Kadma) 4-3 in a penalty shootout to clinch the senior boys ASISC football title at Carmel Bal Vihar ground here today.
This comes two days after hosts Carmel won the junior title trouncing Beldih Church 2-0.
Carmel's S. Yashwant and Subarno Lahiri walked home with the best player award in the junior and senior categories, respectively.
Earlier, Carmel posted a 1-0 win over Gulmohur High School in the first semifinals to book a place in the summit clash. KPS (Kadma), on the other hand, defeated Tarapore Agrico 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the second lastfour outing.
In the quarterfinals, Carmel beat RVC Academy 2-0 while KPS (Kadma) overcame Sri Krishna Public School 1-0. In the other last eight matches, Tarapore Agrico overcame stiff resistance from Kerala Samajam Model School before beating them 4-3 while Gulmohur High School outclassed DBMS English School by a solitary goal.
East Singhbhum SSP Anoop T. Mathew handed over trophies in the presence of Surendra Bahadur Singh, head of referees of Jharkhand Football Association, nationallevel referee Navin Jaideep Sundi and Tata Steel football mentor Md Shafique.
Carmel principal Sister M. Lini A.C., vice principal Sister M. Devashree A.C. and school sports incharge Pradip Mukherjee were also present at the prize distribution ceremony.
