Ranchi, Jan. 12: It?s a show exclusively for dogs.

The Ranchi Dog Lovers? Association will organise a dog show on February 6 at Hotel Ashoka, in which dogs of different breeds will be displayed.

The show, organised under the guidance of the Kennel Club of India, will have complete health check-up for dogs, a breed competition and an obedience test.

The association secretary D. Banerji said the aim of the dog show is to set up a kennel club in Ranchi, just as in Jamshedpur.

?We have been planning to set up a kennel club in the capital. And we have been working towards this. But it has not yet materialised. This show can help us achieve our aim,? said Banerji.

He said, ?Dogs need to be kept very healthy. We will give detailed information about the ways in which they can be kept fit. There will also be a registration counter in which the dogs can be registered to the Kennel Club of India.?

Banerji said the registration was important as the dogs can fetch high prices. The pups too will fetch a good price if registered.

?The reason being that one will be able to know the background and parentage of the dog. Many times people are cheated and they get a Labrador when they had asked for a Great Dane. The registration of dogs will give all information,? he said.

The dog show will also be stalls selling dog accessories at cheap prices.

?Ranchi has got very few shops selling dog accessories, that too some of the items are not available,? said an official of the association.

?We are expecting around 200 participants from CISF, BSF, Jharkhand Police, Gomia Explosives, Calcutta, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and the state capital. And the response is expected to be good,? added Banerji.
