Ranchi: The state cabinet resolved on Tuesday to nullify the land revenue department's order to stop issuing land revenue receipts against gair majarua (government) land, something that was being followed since May 2016.
Home department principal secretary S.K.G. Rahate, who also holds additional ch-arge of the cabinet coordination department, however, clarified that revenue receipts could not be issued against land that was either under litigation or where occupancy was in conflict with a judicial order.
According to a land revenue department official, Tuesday's decision was aimed at neutralising controversies and confusion that may have been created by the amendments in the land acquisition law.
"It is being perceived that the state government was trying to grab the land of poor in the name of development. Through this decision we want to convey that even occupants of government land will not be disturbed," he added.
