Burnt body

Ranchi: The charred body of a 32-year-old woman was recovered from her rented house at Shanti Nagar near Piska More, Ranchi, on Friday.

According to Dharmendra Singh, a teacher of a government middle school in Latehar, his wife Mamta Singh had been depressed for some time and committed suicide. However, police said no suicide note had been found in the house. The body has been for post-mortem.

Guard dead

Ranchi: A 53-year-old guard was found dead inside the additional collectorate's office in Ranchi on Friday. Prem Ram, who worked as a peon-cum-guard at the collectorate, used to sleep in the office at night. Police said prima facie it appeared that Ram died of a heart attack.

Fee plea

Ranchi: A delegation of Jharkhand Abhibhavak Manch will submit a list of complaints to the state HRD minister soon, seeking action against private schools charging exorbitant fees. Manch president Ajay Rai said many parents had lodged complaints with them during the recent awareness camps in the city.

Job scam

Ranchi: Five persons were detained while they were holding "fake" job interviews at a Ranchi hotel on Friday. Hatia DSP Radha Prem Kishore said police took action following a complaint against the owners of UFO Consultancy, Md Rizwan and Tanveer Ahmed, who were allegedly fleecing job-seekers.

SAI workshop

Ranchi: Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Friday organised an anti-doping awareness camp in Ranchi to sensitise officials and players.

Man kills self

A 65-year-old man hanged himself from an iron-pole near his house at Mahanand Nagar in Telco on Friday.

Ramchandra Mahto was facing financial hardships. The body has been sent to MGM Medical College mortuary.

Murder cuffs

A 20-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing auto-rickshaw driver Suresh Sahni (45), whose body was found at Parsudih on Tuesday. Budhram Gope, a resident of Kitadih, killed Suresh after he learnt that he had an illicit relation with his mother.

Assault cry

A delegation of Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh submitted a memorandum to East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal on Friday over the assault on BPL parents by the staff of Rajendra Vidyalaya on May 5.
