Bribe arrest

Ranchi, July 17: Vigilance sleuths caught Jamtara's district education officer while accepting a bribe on Friday.

Vigilance SP Alok said a para-teacher had accused Arvind Kumar of demanding Rs 50,000 for releasing funds for construction of a school.

3 kids drown

Godda: Bodies of three schoolchildren - Shanichar (12), Aitwari (11) and Abbas Paharia (10) - were fished out of a pond in Bara Borma village under Lalmatia police station on Thursday.

Maoist held

Saraikela: A Maoist, considered close to Kundan Pahan, was arrested from Chowka on Thursday. SP Indrajit Mahtha said Kaleshwar Mahto was wanted in cases of arson and extortion.
