Cash snatch
Two bikers snatched Rs 70,000 at gunpoint from two bank employees on NH-33 in Galudih, Ghatshila, on Friday.
Rajiv Rai and Moshiram Karmakar, employees of Bandhan Bank, Ghatshila branch, were returning on a two-wheeler after collecting cash when they were intercepted by the snatcher duo. One of the youths snatched the cash bag as another brandished a gun.
Emerald cuffs
Two emerald smugglers were nabbed in Ghurabandha on Friday. Ghurabandha police of Ghatshila subdivision recovered 100 gram of emeralds worth Rs 1 lakh from Asim Ali Khan and Sheikh Zubair Khan of Mayurbhanj, Odisha.
Khadi fair
Sanjay Seth, chairman of Jharkhand Rajya Khadi & Gramodyog Board, on Friday discussed preparations for a khadi mela, scheduled from February 24 to March 5 at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur, with East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar.
Grain supply
East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar on Friday directed the district supply officer Bindeswhari Tattma to increase grain supply at all the 24 procurement centres in the district. So far, 2,500 quintals of grain have been procured from 5,016 farmers.
Pocso for rape
Ranchi: Four youths, arrested in Lohardaga for raping a 16-year-old tribal girl at Dumar Toli, Kairo, were forwarded to judicial custody on Friday.
The four, aged between 18 and 21, were booked under Section 376 D (gang rape) of IPC and Section 3 (penetrative sexual assault) of Pocso Act.

Ranchi: Chief secretary Rajbala Verma on Friday asked officials of state higher, technical education and skill development department to open nine new polytechnics across the state offering 2,700 seats in the 2017-18 session.
Fatal mishaps
Ranchi/Gumla: Two persons were killed in separate road mishaps in Gumla and Ranchi districts since Thursday night.

Bokaro: A 50kg can bomb, planted under Birua river bridge, was defused on Friday.
Bribe cuffs
Simdega: Koleibera circle officer Chandan Prasad was nabbed by ACB on Friday, for demanding Rs 50,000 bribe from local resident Shahzad Hassan.
Hospital hope
The state government on Friday informed Jharkhand High Court that Ranchi Sadar Hospital annexe, ready since 2011, would become operational from June.
A division bench directed additional chief secretary (health) Sudhir Tripathy to file a comprehensive status report by the first week of May.
Accident
Six passengers sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck on NH-33 in Ormanjhi police station area on Friday. One Hareshwar Singh was sent to RIMS, while the remaining five were released after first aid.
