Trader shot at
The owner of an LPG agency was shot at by three men on a bike who tried to rob him of Rs 2.5 lakh at Dimna Chowk on Wednesday.
Anand Prabhat, a resident of Sunshine Enclave, was on his way home on his bike from Mango when the men accosted him. When Prabhat did not stop his bike, the men fired two rounds at him and fled. One of the bullets hit Prabhat's left leg.
Snatching
Six men snatched a gold chain from Manoj Rai (40) near Tarapore School in Jamshedpur on Wednesday. Rai had gone to bring his daughter from school around 1.30pm when the incident took place.
Train mishap
A 50-year-old unidentified woman was killed after she fell from Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express at Salgajhuri, some 15km from Jamshedpur, on Wednesday morning. GRP said the woman was rushed to Tatanagar Railway Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Bikers hurt
Two men were injured as the bike they were riding was hit by an unidentified truck on NH-33 in Ulidih on Wednesday. Imran Khan (24) and Nadir Sarwar (23), residents of Pardih, were on their way to Big Bazaar in Ulidih when the mishap took place.
Boy dead
One Shiva Naidu (14) , who was admitted to Tata Main Hospital with head injuries on October 14, succumbed on Wednesday. Naidu was injured when the bike he was riding skidded off the road.
Fatal mishap
Ranchi: A 35-year-old man was killed after the car in which he was travelling collided head-on with a truck carrying bottled water at Baridih, some 30km from the city, on Wednesday.
Siddhartha Dey was on his way to Ranchi from Sikidiri when the mishap took place.
Solar lamps
Ranchi: State forest department will distribute solar lamps among100 villagers at Kumharia in Pithoria on the outskirts of the capital on Thursday.
FIR filed
Ranchi: An FIR was registered on Wednesday against the owner of a drug store, Vikas Kumar, for operating the shop without a licence on Station Road here. Police said that during an inspection on Monday night it was found that Vikash Medicals did not have a licence. Kumar is yet to be arrested.
Overbridge
Ranchi: State urban development minister C.P. Singh on Wednesday requested Union railways minister Suresh Prabhu to construct a rail overbridge in Chutia for passengers' convenience. Singh gave the letter to Prabhu in a meeting in New Delhi.
Gelatin haul
Bokaro: Explosives, including detonators, gelatin sticks, were seized from two vehicles going towards Bengal from Jaridih on Wednesday and one person, Kaleshwar Singh, was arrested in this connection.

Ranchi: An RTI centre was launched at SKIPA here on Wednesday.
