Python attack

Ranchi: A 40-year-old man was killed on the spot after a six-feet-long python coiled itself around his neck and squeezed him at Vastu Vihar in Tupudana on Monday.

Baila Kacchap, a resident of Khunti, had caught the python from a river so that he could perform a few tricks and earn money.

Drug cuffs

Ranchi: Seven members of an inter-state drug peddlers gang were arrested from Vashisht Nagar and Sadar thana area of Chatra along with 12.5kg of opium and 80kg of doda on Sunday and Monday. The arrested seven - Parmeshwar Mahto, Chhotu Ganjhu, Kailash Mahto, Ramjeet Bhuiyan, Sikendra Mahto, Upendra Mahto and Gautam Kumar Pandey - are residents of Bashishtnagar and Sadar areas.

Fatal mishap

Dhanbad: An unidentified middle-aged man was killed when the bike he was riding was hit by a truck near Indra Chowk of Mugma, some 30km from Dhanbad town, on Monday.

Loot foiled

Ranchi: Police foiled an attempt by unknown men to steal cash from an ATM in Namkum thana area on Monday. Following a tip-off around 1.30am, a patrol team rushed to the ATM of Bhartiya Mahila Bank.

Bomb hoax

Jamshedpur: Movement of passenger trains were disrupted for two hours in the Tata-Badampahar section after an unclaimed bag was found on the tracks near Bahalda Road around 2pm on Monday. RPF and GRP personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bag.

Robbery

Jamshedpur: Three men on a bike looted Rs 1 lakh at gunpoint from the manager of a petrol pump near NH-33 in Kokpara on Monday.

Jumbo terror

Jamshedpur: Crops and houses of six villagers in Deojhar under Majhgaon block in Chaibasa, some 100km from here, were destroyed by elephants who strayed from nearby forests early on Monday.
