BJP MLA Raj Sinha launches dharna against power crisis

Accuses government of failing to resolve the stalemate

BJP launched 72 hours of dharna on against the acute power crisis prevailing for the last months at Randhir Verma Chowk near the District headquarters today under the leadership of Raj Sinha, Dhanbad MLA.

The protesters comprising senior party leaders including, Chandrashekhar Singh, District President (Urban); Sanjay Jha, district vice president and others who congregated at the dharna site during at around 10 also chanted slogans like, "24 ghante bijli dena hoga; Hemant Sarkar hay hay etc."

Talking to the media Sinha said, “The situation crisis is very pathetic in Dhanbad as well as in six other districts, including Bokaro, Giridih, Koderma, Chatra, Hazaribagh and Ramgarh where we are witnessing more than 15 hours of power cut everyday. We have been continuously raising the issue on various forums including state assembly and also met the chief minister, Hemant Soren, demanding intervention."

“A delegation of BJP MLAs also met, Avinash Kumar, principal secretary of the energy department cum Managing director of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) who assured all steps to improve the situation but without any improvement on the ground. The situation during the last two months has turned worse affecting the common people,” said Sinha.

“The power situation has also affected water supply in Dhanbad and other parts of the district. The power and water crisis has affected normal life and students could not properly attend online classes while business has also been hampered. We have been compelled to launch the dharna to draw the attention of the government," said Sinha.

Aparna Sengupta, BJP MLA from Nirsa accused the state government of failing on fronts.
