Jamshedpur, March 9: Considered the most powerful and dominating clan of the “cowbelt”, the Bhumihars of UP, Bihar and Jharkhand would soon find space on the internet.

The travel group Surabhi Travels in association with Infogate Exporters Private Limited, a software company, would launch a portal completely dedicated to the Bhumihars from next week.

The address www.brahmarshi.com would be the first community specific website launched for any Bihari community.

“Bhumihars are one of the most powerful and learned communities in this area and many people from this clan have made a mark in the world. So, we thought it would be a good idea to launch a website to help the community know their past and voice their opinion,” said Sanjay Kumar, a partner at Surabhi Travels.

Unlike Bhojpuri.com, however, the website would act as a socio-cultural platform for Bhumihar community members and not present news stories. Right now at the designing stage, this portal would provide a complete member’s directory.

But the most interesting feature would be a free-of-cost matrimonial column exclusively for the community members.

“Not only would this have details of prospective brides and grooms, but there would be complete horoscope matching system and other relevant information for both the parties,” said Sudhir Kumar, director of Infogate Exporters.
