Ranchi, May 22: Homemaker Sarita Sinha in Itki would no longer have to think about beauty tips as she has been trained to be a new generation beautician.

Sarita has got beauty kits and after taking training in beautician management course, she is moving to different villages for providing beauty culture tips. “I am also able to raise family income and send children to school,” Sarita said.

The beautician management course, carried out under the rural entrepreneurship development programme is sanctioned by Union Bank of India, Nabard and an NGO Chetna in the Village Knowledge Centre, Itki. The training started a few days back and would continue for 30 days.

Nabard chief general manager K.C. Shashidhar said that they have started the course — started among rural women — includes hygiene, cleanliness, mannerism, good habits and also importance of brushing teeth, keeping hands and clothes clean.

“These women are from Itki and those residing near the vicinity of the areas after learning the course would also visit schools and teach children about hygiene — be it haircutting, keeping shoes clean and also nail trimming,” he said.

“This initiative is taken by Nabard in collaboration with UBI. We have also roped in Chetna and around 30 women are being given training during the 30-day programme,” he added.

The women would also be given loan of Rs 5,000-6,000 for providing home service door-to-door.

He added that all these women who took training were from self-help groups and underprivileged class who are either homemakers or girls. “Both the bank and the NGO, after enquiring about the interests of these women, came to the conclusion that beautician course was the most sought-after one,” he said.

UBI Itki branch assistant manager S.P. Sahu said that they had offered training in beautician, readymade garments, food processing and poultry. “The beautician management course was the most demanding.”
