Ranchi: Garhwa SP Md Arshi, accused of assaulting an advocate on May 2, has been transferred to the police headquarters here as SP (operations). Koderma SP Shivani Tewari has replaced him.
In a major rejig on Wednesday, CID SP M. Tamilvaman has been transferred to Koderma in the same capacity while his Sahebganj counterpart Dhananjay Kumar Singh has been made the new Special Branch SP.
Singh will be replaced by Railway Police SP (Dhanbad) H.P. Janardanan while Dhanbad-based JAP-3 commandant Nidhi Dwivedi has been given the additional charge of Railway Police SP.
A 2012 batch IPS officer, Arshi and his bodyguards had allegedly assaulted advocate Ashish Dubey while clearing a traffic jam at Ranka More in Garhwa.
Following the incident, Jharkhand High Court had ordered a departmental inquiry into the incident and asked the state government to submit its report by September 10.
Arshi, who assumed charge as Garhwa SP on June 1, is known for his action against rebel outfits and criminal groups. On August 15 last year, he was awarded the President's Medal for gallantry.
Tewari, who took over as Koderma SP on November 17, often hogged the limelight for her crusades against road robbers and mafia groups involved in illegal mining.
She had solved several sensational criminal cases, including the murder of Koderma district Congress president Shankar Yadav on February 13 and the Rs 15-crore gold and cash robbery from a Patna-based businessman on April 14.
