Alumni honour at XLRI homecoming

It was a trip down memory lane at XLRI's Annual Homecoming 2017, the two-day alumni meet, which concluded on Saturday at Tata Auditorium.

Jamshedpur: It was a trip down memory lane at XLRI's Annual Homecoming 2017, the two-day alumni meet, which concluded on Saturday at Tata Auditorium.

Around 250 former students from 1972, 1973 and 1977 batches came from different parts of the country to relive the good ol' days.

This year nine distinguished alumni of the institute were felicitated with Distinguished Alumnus Awards in five different categories.

Director of XLRI, Father E. Abraham; president of XLRI Alumni Association, Jamshedpur Chapter, C.V. Shashtry and chairperson of XLRI alumni Pranabesh Ray were also present on the occasion.

"It is a matter of pride that all our former students have been extremely successful in the fields of academics, industry and allied service fields, both nationally and abroad. They act as notable ambassadors of XLRI in both private and public sectors," said Father Abraham.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award category was conferred upon Madhavi Lall, managing director of Deutsche Bank; David Rasquinha, managing director of Exim Bank, India, and Sandip Sen, global CEO & executive director of Aegis.

The award in the category of academics was given to Arup Varma, professor of human resources and industrial relations, Loyola University Chicago Quinlan School of Business and Jayanth Narayanan, professor of leadership and organisational behaviour, IMD, Switzerland.

The young achiever award went to Deepak Garg, CEO and director of Sany Heavy Industry.

In the entrepreneur category, the award went to Arjun Chatterjee, founder and CEO of Runtime Solutions, while the award for allied fields was presented to vocalist Radhika Sood Nayak and artist Vijay Kowshik.

"Such alumni meets help to strengthen our bonds and foster camaraderie amongst all. It revives the family spirit. All our alumni get to meet their old acquaintances, classmates and teachers and reminisce all the memorable experiences they had in XLRI," said Pranabesh Ray.
