Jamshedpur, Oct. 1: Here is a chance for all adventure sports lovers in the state to try parasailing, windsurfing and water-scooter race.

East Singhbhum district administration in association with state tourism department has arranged for some adventure sports in Ghatshila to celebrate 25 years of the establishment of the sub-division.

The four-day programme would be simultaneously held at Burudih dam and Dhalbhumgarh.

While the water sports will take place at Burudih dam, the parasailing contests would be organised at Dhalbhumgarh at the abandoned airstrip.

Officials in district administration said the department of sports, culture and youth affairs would provide two water scooters and four boats for the activities at Burudih lake.

Sunil Kumar, the sub-divisional officer of Ghatshila, said: “During the silver jubilee celebrations, the administration would try to dispel fear among tourists about Ghatshila as a rebel-hit area.”

Apart from adventure sports, there would be cultural programmes in the evening.

“Of late, the tourist hotspot has earned a bad name due to repeated Naxalite attacks in the area. Bookings in hotels were cancelled after the incident in September 7 when Naxalites blew up a police van killing 11 policemen. This programme would also boost tourism in Ghatshila,” said Kumar.
