Adoption balm for tsunami-hit kids

Jamshedpur, Jan. 5: The Anand Margis will adopt more than 1000 children, who have been displaced and orphaned by the tsunami.

They are already engaged in relief work in Nagapattinam, Cuddalore and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.

Secretary Public Relations, Anand Marga Pracharak Sangha (AMPS), Acharya Divyachitananda Avadhut said, ?Disposing the bodies is also a major task which has to be finished. We will take care of all the children who have survived the disaster and have nowhere to go. With the predictions of an earthquake in Assam, we are also preparing ourselves for relief work.?

Speaking at a news conference, members of the Sangha said they have extensive plans for relief work in the disaster-hit areas.

They are also gearing up for the golden jubilee of the Dharma Maha Sammelan which will be begin from Friday. More than 10,000 Anand Margis from all over the world are expected to participate in the three-day function to be held at Anand Nagar at Purulia.

The Sangha members elaborated on the other programmes that they have chalked out for themselves for the year.

Seed banks, dairy farms and micro-loan schemes for the poor are some of the schemes lined up for the year.

Secretary of Central committee public relations, AMPS, Acharya Sugatananda Avadhoot said, ?The Sangha will first start the schemes at Anand Nagar and then expand it to other parts of the country.?

Apart from providing financial help to the poor, the Sangha plans to extend its education schemes.

Secretary of central committee public relations said, ?We have chalked out a three-tier education project. We will cater to the privileged classes by starting Anand Marga Special Academic Institutions (AMSAI). We will also ensure that the poor students, who cannot afford the minimum fees, will be admitted to Jagriti schools in all the panchayats.?

People?s day school and night school in these areas are also in the pipeline.
