Acting talents shine through at kids' drama fest

Jamshedpur, Aug. 24: Five plays were staged by different schools in the city on the final day of the fourth children’s drama festival at Milanee Hall today.

The day began with the play, Sabse bada kaun, which was staged by mentally-challenged students of School of Hope. Achal A. Gourav, who played the role of the protagonist, a sarpanch, left the audience awe-struck with their brilliant performance.

Mamun and Debashish, who played the roles of a vegetable vendor and washerman, also drew a round of applause.

SDSM School of Excellence staged the play, Pehle main, pehle main. Rahul Kumar played the role of the king, while Rabindra Kumar and Vikas Sagar acted as his lieutenants. The performance of Amit Kumar and Ankit Kumar, who played hermits, were also appreciated. The play was directed by Vijay Bhushan.

Students of Kerala Public School (Kadma) staged Bholaram ka jeev, which revolved around the problems of a middle-class family. The children delivered their dialogues with confidence. Neeraj and Bhakti played the lead role of a husband and wife.

Carmel Junior College staged Alladin and his Magic Lamp. The play was lapped up by the children who were present in large numbers. Utsav Giri played the role of Alladin, while Shreyoshi Ghosh acted as his mother. Harsh Vardhan, Merushree, Anandita, Navnita, Pratik, Dinesh, Subhro, Manish and Souvik also acted well.

Pancharatna, which was staged by the students Narbheram Hansraj English School, was interesting. Children, dressed as animals romped around the stage, while children in the audience clapped with excitement. The play was directed by Roshan Dangwan, Piyusha Ishwan and Manju Tripathi. Jyoti Gandhi, Sunita Patil and Malini Sutarie did a good job as dress designers.

Carmel Junior College principal Sister Flavia, who was the chief guest, praised the students for their brilliant performance.

The drama festival was organised jointly by Theatre Artists of Jamshedpur (TAJ) and Milanee.
