Always a crowd magnet, the Thakur Pyara Singh Dhurandar Singh Club pandal in Kasidih is raising a toast to woman power and Indian classical dance forms this year. The resident deity will be seen in a Bharatnatyam pose under a banyan tree while small figurines in pots will adorn the periphery of the pandal.

The pandal of Jairam Youth Sporting Club in Adityapur is highlighting the cultural diversity of India. Sand artist Dashrath Mohanta from Mayurbhanj, Odisha, is showcasing sand sculptures of famous personalities.

Keeping in mind the predicted wet weather, the pandal of Bhuiyandih Area Sarbajanin Durga Puja is made of synthetic sponge that will help absorb water.

Literacy mission
Purvanchal Durga Puja Committee on D-Road in Telco is spreading awareness on the National Literacy Mission. The pandal has made generous use of classroom basics such as chalks, slates, blackboards, pencil boxes and sketch pens.

Tribute to martyrs
L-4 Area Sarbajanin Durga and Kali Puja Committee, Sidhgora, is paying tribute to the Uri martyrs this year. A giant projector outside the pandal will beam photographs of the jawans killed in last month's terrorist strike. A donation box will be kept near the screen for contributions to the Indian Army.
