A 14-year-old boy was among six persons to have died of Covid-19 in the steel city during the past 24 hours. Whereas five of those died had comorbidity, the boy who died had no complications other than that of the Covid.

A resident of Telco Colony, the teen was admitted to the Tata Motors Hospital in Telco with complaint of acute cold, cough, fever and body-ache on Sunday. He was tested Coronavirus positive during his admission in the hospital. Shockingly, he succumbed to his illness on Monday night.

"The boy had no complications other than that of Covid. He must have died of cardiac arrest during the treatment of the Covid, " said Dr Ashad Mohammed, district epidemiologist while talking to The Telegraph Online. Ashad said the death of as many as six persons in a single day is a serious thing to happen, but the death of the 14-year-old boy exclusively from the Covid is a greater cause of concern.

On Monday 591 persons were tested Coronavirus positive out of 7,885 samples taken by the district health department across the East Singhbhum.

Significantly, of the 591 positive cases, 142 cases were detected from the Tatanagar railway station alone.

With the help of Civil Defense volunteers, the district health department had carried out sample tests of 1028 passengers from morning till late in the evening during which so many positive cases were detected.
