Ranchi Employment Exchange. (Hardeep Singh) |
Ranchi, April 19: There is hope for job seekers with disabilities tired of waiting for good news from the employment exchange.
Come April 27, the state department of labour employment and training will organise an employment camp for the disabled at Jamshedpur, followed by one in Ranchi, thanks to Jamshedpur-based BPO company Aegis Ltd, which has shown interest in hiring 100 disabled people.
The executive post requires a minimum qualification of Plus Two and the salary would be Rs 5,000 per month.
State labour department assistant director (employment) Satish Suman told The Telegraph the BPO company had shown interest in hiring physically-challenged people. “We directed employment exchanges of Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bokaro provide names of physically challenged people to appear in the interview. This is for the first time that we are organising such a camp especially for the physically challenged. We will later organise such a camp on a statewide level. But much depends on the kind of vacancies created,” Suman said.
Suman added they asked employment exchanges outside Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bokaro to give names of registered physically challenged persons for the interview. In all, the state has 42 employment exchanges.
According to only Ranchi Employment Exchange figures, the number of registrations by the physically challenged from January to March 2011 is a whopping 1,135, with 755 and 409 disabled men and women, respectively. In 2010, between January and December, the number of registrations was 1135, with 731 men and 404 women. In 2009, the number was 1,705, with 1,234 men and 471 women. Those who register are matriculates, intermediates or graduates.
State disability commissioner Satish Chandra said though three per cent was reserved for persons with disability in the government sector, very few managed jobs as vacancies were minuscule.
