10 from city in state taekwondo squad

Ten from the steel city have found slots in the 22-member state outfit for the 36th Junior National Taekwondo Championship in Ludhiana from December 22 to 25.

Jamshedpur, Dec. 6: Ten from the steel city have found slots in the 22-member state outfit for the 36th Junior National Taekwondo Championship in Ludhiana from December 22 to 25.

Tahla Ahmad, Masood Rahman, Manoj Ravidas, Tushar Sharma, Kundan Singh, Preet Kaur, Sindhu Kumari, Ishika Singh, Jyoti Kaur and Anshu Ranjan are from Jamshedpur.

The 12 others in the state team are Bhawani Singh Chouhan, Sanjeet Kumar, Aakash Vishwakarma, Vishal Pandit from Dhanbad; Sakhi Bangar, Komal Nayak, Nikhil Pahan, Rishu Kumar from Ranchi; Sriram Kumar from Deoghar; Pratap Kumar and Ranjit Kumar from Koderma; and Shraddha Kumari from Lohardaga.

Announcing the names today, Jharkhand Taekwodo Association vice president Gopal Kumar said players were picked on the basis of their performance at the state meet in Jamtara. "We are expecting a good show from our team in Ludhiana. I<>It is a good side," he said.

The state association is planning a training camp before the national meet.

Subhash Prasad (Jamshedur) and Tarakant Patel (Ranchi) will accompany the team as mentors. Amita Sao (Dhanbad) and Mamta Bangar (Ranchi) have been named managers.
