That men can mess up the simplest of situations is something women always knew. So they, at least, must have lapped up the almost weekly comic capers being rolled out by Neeraj Vora and others who obviously do not believe in doing any Hera Pheri with this trend.
Vora, who has scripted this Rohit Shetty- directed Golmaal, and has to his credit box-office hungamas like Hulchul, Garam Masala and Phir Hera Pheri, simply permutates and combines a few actors and sequences and continues with the same rehashed plot. While this time around, too, the producer will be Malamaal enough to be laughing his way to the bank, someone ought to whisper Chup Chup Ke into Vora’s ears that it’s time for some real Hera Pheri of ideas.
Bringing together actors like Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi, who click fantastically together, works great for the film. It’s their fine performance and comic timing which keeps the paper-thin plot going and, of course, there’s Paresh Rawal, a constant figure in every recent comic caper, though without his comic partner, Rajpal Yadav, a regular too.
The physically challenged seem to have found great favour with these genre churners. If in Chup Chup Ke it was Kareena who communicated only through the sign language, here is Tusshar’s turn to do so. And he does raise a lot of laughs, aided perfectly by Sharman, who is his voice in the film. While Ajay becomes Sharman’s voice, as the four make a sudden entry into the world of the blind couple, Rawal and Sushmita Mukherjee.
If all this sounds pretty confusing, it is supposed to! While the four of them woo Rimmi, there’s also a flashback sequence in black-and-white of Paresh wooing Sushmita, singing an old melody. Put in as the script starts falling short of messy situations that the four actors can get into. Mostly keeps a good pace, though highly irritating in scenes like with the college principal and by the time one reaches the final chase scene, it’s almost action replay with different actors in the many scenes in many such films seen in previous weeks.
How about something like Phir Khubsoorat, with Kareena, Bipasha, Rimmi and Sushmita making a mess of things and wooing one male? Won’t the men love that!
