New Delhi, Sept. 11 (Agencies): The Supreme Court on Monday sought the replies of the Union government and Haryana to a petition calling for the CBI to investigate the murder of a student of Ryan International School in Gurgaon in the school.
A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices A.M. Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud also sought a response from the CBSE, as the petitioner, the father of the murdered student, has also sought guidelines to fix responsibility of school managements.
The boy was found with his throat slit in a pool of blood in a washroom of the upmarket Gurgaon school on September 8. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education.
Ashok Kumar, a conductor of a school bus, who allegedly killed the boy while trying to sexually abuse him, was arrested the same day.
Parents want that the investigation be taken away from the state police and given to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Barun Chandra Thakur, the father of the student has said in his plea filed through advocate Sushil Tekriwal, that the apex court should monitor the CBI probe.
During the brief hearing, the bench observed: “This petition is not restricted only to the school concerned as it has a country-wide ramification”.
The bench asked the governments and the CBSE to respond within three weeks.
