The Odisha government on Tuesday increased the retirement age of medical officers of Odisha Health Medical Service cadre as well as the Allopathic Insurance Medical Officers under Labour and Employees’ State Insurance Department from 62 years to 65 years.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik announced this following a review meeting on Covid-19.

He also announced Rs 15 crore each for Khurda and Cuttack districts for Covid-19 management from the chief minister’s relief fund.

The government also announced to operate the training and information centre on Covid-19 at SCB Medical College, Cuttack, soon and upgrade the Molecular Genome Lab in SCB Medical College for viral and human host genome sequencing to predict the prognosis of Covid-19 patients.
