Hyderabad, Nov. 7: Hello, Ramalinga.

Nice to see you, Ram.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was the first to get an appointment with Ramalinga Raju after the former Satyam Computers chief walked free on bail last weekend.

Varma, maker of films like Rakta Charitra, spent over an hour with Raju on Saturday evening and requested him for interviews for a proposed movie on the disgraced tech titan’s life.

Raju and Varma were both student leaders in colleges in Vijayawada where they studied and have been friends for long.

While there was no official confirmation on whether Raju had given his consent for the film, he did keep the file Varma presented him.

“It is too early to say anything but Ramalinga Raju has agreed to take a look at the storyline,” Varma told some of his friends after the Saturday meeting.

Sources said the filmmaker had agreed to get the script written based on the corrections Raju has made.

The two have agreed to meet again after 20 days.

Varma’s associates said the film would focus on how Raju, accused in India’s biggest corporate financial scam, became a scapegoat for an economic situation caused by global recession.

Another real-life shocker that has emerged on Telugu celluloid is a film on Swami Nithyananda, a Tamil Nadu seer who landed in a storm after a news channel telecast video footage purportedly showing him in a sex romp with an actress.

The film titled Swami Satyananda is due for release later this month. Popular comedian Ali plays the lead role in the movie.
