Amid the ongoing stalemate in Parliament – the non-stop disruption of the on-going session over 14 Opposition parties are all set to meet Tuesday morning to decide on staging a "mock parliament" outside.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has invited leaders of Opposition parties to a breakfast meeting at the Constitution Club on Tuesday to chalk out a joint strategy on the Pegasus snooping issue.
According to sources, the meeting is being held to forge unity among the Opposition’s ranks.
All Opposition MPs and floor leaders of various parties have been invited for the meeting.
Most of the Opposition leaders have been alleging that they are not being heard in Parliament.
According to an NDTV report, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, said, “All floor leaders and other MPs will join the meeting.”
This breakfast meet, which will be hosted at the Constitution Club, will be the second Opposition meet since last week. The Opposition leaders of various parties have been discussing a coordinated strategy to mount pressure on the government to speak on the Pegasus row.
Since the monsoon session began on July 19, Parliament has barely functioned because of the protests and demands being made by the Opposition for discussions on the Pegasus snooping scandal and the farmer protests, among other points of conflict.
According to Government sources a total of Rs 130 crore has been lost because of the Parliament deadlock.
Even today Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day as Opposition MPs continued their protest over the Pegasus snooping row and other matters.
When Rajya Sabha reassembled at 3.36 pm, the government moved two Bills for consideration, but Opposition members, some of them carrying placards, kept raising slogans in the Well of the House.
Bhubaneswar Kalita, who was in the Chair, tried to pacify the protesting members, but in vain.
Lok Sabha procceding were also adjourned till Tuesday as Opposition continued to protest against Pegasus issue and farm laws.
The Opposition has been demanding a discussion in Parliament on the Pegasus row and its leaders have been giving adjournment notices everyday.
The government has been saying that the Opposition is citing a "non-issue" and the IT minister has already given a reply in both Houses of Parliament.
