Jail authorities in Odisha have decided to screen patriotic and motivational films in jails on Sundays to motivate jail inmates to shun the wrong path and to make them stress free. The pilot project will begin from Jharpada jail here.
Director general, Odisha Prison Administration, S.K. Upadhya told reporters, “ All these reform processes have been undertaken as a part of the implementation of Odisha Model Jail Manual 2020.”
The jail authority has set up a projector along with a large screen and sound system.
“Sitting arrangement has been made for 100 inmates. We will also make efforts to show them films pertaining to human rights, health, legal aid and other issues,” jail officials maintained, adding that musical systems have already been installed in different places in the jail to air soothing, devotional and spiritual songs to ease the stress and anxiety level of prison inmates.
Officials further said: “ An attempt would be made to give them good moral values so that even after they are released from jail they will not take up the wrong path again. Once the scheme is implemented successfully here at Special Jail in Jharpada in Bhubaneswar, it will be extended to other jails.”
