Nitish wife dies at 53

Patna, May 14: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s wife Manju Sinha died after prolonged illness at Max Hospital in Delhi.

Manju (in picture) was suffering from acute pneumonia and had to be air-lifted to Delhi on May 1, after her condition worsened.

Her body will be brought to Patna tomorrow morning and will be cremated on the banks of the Ganga. She was 53.

The couple have a son, Nishant.

Manju was admitted to Shri Ram Nursing home after an attack of acute pneumonia on April 30. She was immediately put on the ventilator.

Nitish and Manju married in 1973. She was then a teacher in a government high school. She also enjoyed a brief stint in a Delhi school when Nitish joined the V.P. Singh government in the early 1990s.

The chief minister was at his wife’s bedside when she breathed her last at 7.25 pm.
