Nitish Delhi trip to forge Opposition unity

JDU sources said Nitish could meet Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders, as well as leaders from the Left parties

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar rooted for a broad-based Opposition unity across the country on Sunday and asserted that the parties would fare better if they contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together against the BJP.Nitish said he would be in Delhi for three days from Monday to work on his “objective to bring the Opposition parties together” for the next general election.

“We will achieve huge success if we contest the elections in a united manner. I am not talking about any figure or the number of seats,” Nitish said.

He was speaking to reporters at the end of a two-day JDU national executive in Patna. Over 250 party leaders from different states attended it.“I am going to Delhi. Leaders of four of the seven parties in our alliance are there and we will meet,” Nitish said. He added that he would also meet President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar. JDU sources said Nitish could meet Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders, as well as leaders from the Left parties.
