New Delhi, July 29: Sikkim High Court Chief Justice P.D. Dinakaran, facing impeachment proceedings over allegations of corruption and land grab, today resigned from office.
akaran had been shunted out to Sikkim High Court from Karnataka after the allegations surfaced. He was accused of using his judicial position as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court to grab land and gain other pecuniary benefits just when he was being considered for elevation as a Supreme Court judge.
New Delhi: A. Raja’s former aide R.K. Chandolia has sought to shift the blame to the former telecom minister for the 2G spectrum scam and implead corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and industrialist Ratan Tata in the case. “They should be made accused in the case but the CBI cannot touch them as they are big people,” he said.
Toronto (PTI): An Indian-origin woman working with an Punjabi newspaper was killed on Thursday with a meat cleaver, allegedly by her husband, near Vancouver. Police have identified the victim as Ravinder Kaur Bhangu, 24. She worked as an administrative assistant at the weekly newspaper Sach Di Awaaz in Surrey, the Vancouver Sun reported.
Moga (PTI): An 80-year-old couple in Punjab’s Moga district have filed cases against each other in separate courts. Harbans Singh said in his petition that his wife of 60 years had left him and she should be asked to return. In her petition, his wife Amar Kaur said her estranged husband should give her at least Rs 10,000 a month as maintenance money.
Rajkot (PTI): A Rajkot resident has complained of getting calls from Pakistan asking him to provide sensitive information about India, police said. The police have asked the special operations group to investigate the complaint.
