A video has surfaced purportedly showing a Gujarat BJP MLA telling voters that “Modi saheb” had installed cameras in polling booths to find out who was not voting for the party.

The Fatehpura MLA, Ramesh Katara, allegedly told a small rally near here that Modi would stop giving work to the village if its residents did not vote for the BJP candidate from Dahod, Jasvantsinh Bhabhor, a Union minister.

The Dahod district election officer has issued a notice to the MLA.

Katara was purportedly heard saying: “Press the button on the photo of Bhabhor and the lotus. This time, Modi saheb has installed cameras. Sitting there, he would know who voted for the BJP…. If votes (to the BJP) are less in your booth, you will be given less work. Modi saheb, sitting there, would find out that you did something wrong. Your photos are there on your election card, Aadhaar card and even on ration card.”

The MLA denied threatening voters and said facts were “distorted” in the video.
