Feb. 13: Jennifer Lopez jetted into Udaipur yesterday to perform at the big fat Hinduja wedding, on-off toy boy Casper Smart in tow.
Before taking the stage late in the evening at the wedding of industrialist Sanjay Hinduja and Anu Mahtani, the 45-year-old actress and pop star took a selfie aboard a boat, which she posted on both her Twitter (@JLo) and Instagram (@jlo) accounts, with the caption: Selfiex3... #firsttimeinIndia
Selfiex3: Because the picture shows two others, most probably members of her entourage, taking selfies of themselves.
#firsttimeinIndia: Was what she hashtagged. In 2013, JLo was slated to perform at the IPL opening ceremony in Calcutta, but proved to be too "expensive". She was replaced by her On The Floor music partner Pitbull.
Lopez danced at the wedding reception at the City Palace's Manek Chowk wearing a slinky black bodysuit and black boots. Among an audience of 800-odd that madly cheered her on were Bollywood actresses Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta.
"Just saw Jennifer Lopez live in action Whoa! What a Performer! Perfection", Shilpa tweeted.
Lopez arrived in Udaipur early yesterday and put up at Hotel Udai Vilas, on the banks of the Pichola lake.
Nicole Scherzinger, who arrived in India for the wedding three days ago, was a lot more prolific on Twitter (@NicoleScherzy) and Instagram (@nicolescherzy).
The 36-year-old Pussycat singer - who has just split with Formula One champ Lewis Hamilton - had a ball in Udaipur, sightseeing, posing in a fuchsia sari and hobnobbing with Bollywood biggies. She left for the Philippines today.
Some of the other guests at the wedding were steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and industrialist Gautam Adani. Actors Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Malaika Arora Khan and designer Manish Malhotra were also there.
The lavish affair was spread over three days. Over 200 charter planes ferried guests to Udaipur. The mehendi was held at the Shiv Niwas heritage hotel owned by the Udaipur maharana.
The Manek chowk, where Lopez performed, is a huge, grassy courtyard constructed by Rana Karan Singh between 1620 and 1628. It was earlier used for public meetings, ceremonial processions, elephant parades and other festivals.
The City Palace, where the chowk is located, has a beautifully laid out Mughal Garden and is still used by the Mewar royal family.
Sanjay Hinduja, 50, is the son of Gopichand Hinduja, the chairman of the Hinduja group. He is the chairman of Gulf Oil International Limited. This is his first marriage but his bride's second.
