Imphal/New Delhi, Jun 4 (PTI): Insurgents ambushed an army patrol on Thursday in Chandel district of Manipur killing 15 and wounding 10.
A team of 6th battalion of the Dogra Regiment was on a road opening patrol as part of their daily routine along Tengnoupal-New Samtal road, about 80km from here. It was ambushed by an unidentified insurgent outfit with a powerful Improvised Explosive Device, a police official said in Imphal.
In Delhi, Army sources said at least 15 army personnel were killed and 10 injured in the attack which took place at 8 am when the convoy reached a place between Paralong and Charong villages. More details are awaited.
The injured jawans were airlifted by the Army for treatment, police said.
A reinforcement party of the security forces was rushed to the spot for combing operation to nab the militants, it added.
