The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Thursday seized fake currency notes with face values worth more than Rs 14 lakh in Bargarh district of Odisha and arrested two persons including an inter-state criminal in this connection.

In a press release, the STF said, “STF with the help of Bargarh district police detected a case of illegal business of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) at Barapalli under Bargarh district on Thursday.

”The STF arrested two persons — an inter-state criminal namely Pattu Yadav, 53, of Parawai under Khesrah police station in Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh, and Balaram Meher, 39, of Mahatompada under Barpali police station in Bargarh district of Odisha.Yadav at present resides at Burla in Sambalpur district of Odisha.

“During search, FICN of Rs.14,29,500/- and other incriminating articles were recovered and seized from their possession,” the press release said.
