The family of Gurnam Singh, the 26-year-old BSF jawan who died in a Jammu hospital on Saturday night of injuries suffered in Pakistani sniper fire, has asked for a specialised hospital in his name for soldiers serving on the border.
"The only demand from the Modi government is for a separate BSF hospital. We are worried about all our sons. They should get good treatment," Gurnam's mother Jaswant Kaur said on Sunday, fighting back tears as she kept a promise to her son not to cry if he died in the line of duty.
On Saturday, the family had requested moving Gurnam to a bigger hospital outside the state for better treatment.
On Sunday, as his body arrived home, Gurnam's father Kulbir Singh echoed his wife: "Our demand is that a good hospital be set up here, where all critical care and facilities are available so that our sons (border guards) can be saved in such situations."
