Nalini Sriharan, her husband and three other convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case were released from Tamil Nadu prisons on Saturday evening.

Immediately after she was released from the special prison for women in Vellore, Nalini went to the Vellore central prison from where her husband V Sriharan alias Murugan was released and became emotional upon seeing him.



Only 4 per cent voting recorded in first hour of polling. However, by 3 pm Himachal Pradesh recorded 55.65 per cent voter turnout. After the end of voting, the turnout recorded was 65.92 per cent polling till 5 pm. 

More than 55 lakh voters in the hill state will decide the fate of 412 candidates in 68 assembly constituencies. Twenty four women candidates are in the fray this time.

Of the total voters, 28,54,945 are male and 27,37,845 female voters in the state.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday held a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba and both the leaders discussed recent developments in the region, nuclear concerns and ways to end Russia's war on Ukraine.

Jaishankar met Kuleba on the sidelines of the ASEAN-India summit here in the Cambodian capital.

Jaishankar's meeting with Kuleba came days after he went on a two-day visit to Russia amid growing global concerns over increasing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine.


Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen on Saturday held discussions on ways to further enhance bilateral ties, including in areas like human resource, de-mining and development projects.

Both leaders also witnessed the exchange of four agreements in the areas of culture, wildlife and health. The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the ASEAN-India Summit here.

The he met with King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni during a meeting, at Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is "more excited than nervous" as he stands on the cusp of emulating the iconic Imran Khan.

Pakistan take on England in the summit clash of the T20 World Cup at the MCG on Sunday.

"I'm more excited than nervous since we've performed well in our last three matches," Babar said on Saturday.

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and five members of his team were stopped for an hour at the Mumbai airport by Customs officials for not paying Customs duty for six luxury watches as the payment facility was not operational in the early hours of Saturday, an official said.

The incident occurred at 12.30 AM after Khan landed at the airport from Dubai in a chartered flight, the official said and added that the payment counter at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) was not operational in the early hours.

Actress Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover announced the birth of their first child, a baby girl, on Saturday.

Bipasha and Karan, who got married in 2014, have named their daughter Devi Basu Singh Grover, they wrote in a joint post on Instagram.

“The physical manifestation of our love and blessings if Ma is here now and she is Divine,” the post read. 

The couple had announced their pregnancy via Instagram on August 16.
