Actor-producer Viveck Vaswani did not work with actor Salman Khan after 1991’s Patthar Ke Phool because Khan was undisciplined, he said in a recent interview.
Speaking on Vickey Lalwani’s podcast, Vaswani said, “I cannot work where there is liquor or indiscipline. If I get the Salman who works with Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Sooraj Barjatya, I would like to give him the best film.”
He added, “With some filmmakers, like Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sooraj Barjatya, Salman is in control. They get the same respect because they are very big banners. They don’t allow interference. They need Salman the actor, not Salman the star.”
Patthar Ke Phool marked actress Raveena Tandon’s Bollywood debut. The film stars Salman as police officer Suraj Verma. Vinod Mehra, Reema Lagoo and Kiran Kumar also appear in the film in key roles.
The film was directed by Anant Balani and emerged as one of the highest grossing Hindi films of 1991.
Salman is currently awaiting the release of Maatrubhumi, which was previously titled Battle of Galwan.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi will follow the clash between Indian and Chinese troops along the Sino-Indian border in 2020. Salman plays Col. Bikkumalla Santosh Babu in the upcoming film, which also stars Chitrangda Singh.
