1 TRUMP TAPPED!

Talk show host Stephen Colbert whipped out a cracker of an episode this week, tearing into Donald Trump after the US Prez, in a series of tweets, alleged that predecessor Barack Obama had his phones tapped during the Presidential election last year. “So where did Trump get his info? From the CIA? From the FBI? Out of his
A-S-S?!” was how Colbert went all guns blazing. And it didn’t stop there. “Who wakes up that angry?” wondered Colbert after Trump started his Twitter rant at Obama at 6.35 am. “Somebody get this guy a Xanax. Or a bran muffin. Or a bran muffin stuffed with Xanax. Like a Branax!” Colbert, who hosts The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, also hit out at Trump for comparing Obama’s alleged wiretapping to McCarthyism one moment and “Nixon/Watergate” the next. “Pick your historical analogy,” he screamed. Total loves for the 10:07 rant: 12,210,190.

2 TRAILER: NOOR

Sonakshi Sinha is Noor. A bumbling journalist, prone to bumping into this and that, Noor’s New Year resolution is clear: “Iss saal main seedhi Savitri se tedhi Savitri banoongi.” The first minute-and-a-half of the Noor trailer is laugh-out-loud fun as its eponymous protagonist tries to navigate her way through life. But it gets all serious when Noor finds her ethics as a journalist on the line... and she embarks on a mission to pull the lid off a murky crime.
Sonakshi, looking the part in specs and cotton kurtas , brings Noor alive, with the men in her life — Purab Kohli to funnyman Kanan Gill — making for some interesting casting. Based on Karachi, You’re Killing Me!, a book about a Pakistani journalist trying to survive Mumbai, the  2:20 trailer, however, has no mention of Pakistan.
But the April 21 film is the week’s big YouTube hit at 6,194,802 thumbs-ups.

3 VIRGIN? NOT ME!

How will your mom react if she finds your boyfriend’s briefs in your cupboard? Well, this 5:24 video from the guys called Girliyapa is quite an eye-opening — and fun — watch. When the mom, visiting her daughter who lives alone, throws a fit on realising that the 23-year-old’s boyfriend has been sleeping over, the daughter confronts her with an ‘ugly truth’ — that she isn’t a virgin... and it’s time her parents dealt with it. “It’s better than doing it with someone I don’t know,” the young girl tells her mother, managing to make her mom understand in the end.
Is it going to be as easy convincing every mother in this country? Well, we don’t know, but the video is a winner at 1,007,302 yays.

4 RUPERT OR ED?

Rupert Grint — the man we have loved as the boy Ron Weasley — had a confession to make on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He often gets mistaken for fellow Britisher (and fellow blonde) Ed Sheeran. “It’s kind of 50/50 now,” Grint told host James Corden. “Someone stops me, it could go either way. It could be Ed or it could be me.” Grint also spoke about the time British singer-songwriter Leo Sayer thought he was Sheeran. “He came up to me and said he loved my music, of course thinking I was Ed... I played along!” But the Harry Potter star isn’t the only one facing an identity crisis. Actor Patrick Stewart also revealed that he often gets mistaken for Ben Kingsley! 897,482 OMGs for this one.

HAVE IT, FLAUNT IT

How much cleavage is good cleavage? Bolly actors Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhaskar — both known for playing strong women on screen — hit it out of the park in this video which touches upon slut shaming and body positivity... all with a touch of humour and satire.

The hard-hitting 3:22 video has the two women getting down to the task of “tutoring” women on how to manage their cleavage. So at the workplace, where there is a “rangeen” manager,  they recommend a turtle neck, high enough to strangle yourself... because “yeh bhi koi dikhane ki jagah hai kya?” At the gym, they talk about the irony of it all — women come to the gym to work on their bodies, but have to inevitably cover up. Crowded place in the evening means putting on a polo neck, even if its summer and on your wedding day, cover up completely because “sasuraal waale kya sochenge?”
The message at the end of it all: “We are women… we are born with it. If you have it, flaunt it.” The video has 549,121 yays.

You already know all about Nokia’s return with the 3310. Keeping the iconic phone are a few more blasts from the past.

BlackBerry KeyOne

No, BlackBerry is not dead. In September 2016 the company famed for its Qwerty keyboard had announced it would no longer design its own smartphones. But Hong Kong-based TCL Communication, the company now operating the BlackBerry brand, has unveiled a new smartphone that combines a touchscreen with a physical keyboard. The keys can be programmed to provide up to 52 shortcuts. For example, you can press “I” for quick access to your inbox or “m” for a maps shortcut. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor and runs the Nougat 7.1 version of Android. Goes on sale in April. Price? $549.

Kodak Ektachrome

In 2012, Kodak had discontinued its line of colour reversal films, which stand out for “fine grain, clean colours, sharp tones and contrasts”. The company has announced that it will be working to manufacture Ektachrome film for “both motion picture and still photography applications”. Dennis Olbrich, president of the imaging, paper, photo chemicals and film division at Kodak Alaris, which took over Kodak’s film photography businesses, has said that the company is simply responding to consumer demand. Initial availability is expected in the fourth quarter of 2017.

RADIO

Jimmy Tangree on staying dedicated

What a week! On March 8, 91.9 Friends FM took Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan over to Bhawanipur Education Society College to engage with students and the interaction was shown live on FB. On Women’s Day, our station car went across the city to interact with women and there were prizes for those who called up the radio station.

Talking about women and their dedication, I am reminded of a Class XI girl who had called up Direct Dilse six years ago. She wanted to educate underprivileged children and I had suggested that she should also involve friends from her locality. She took the suggestion seriously and today they teach children in 33 localities. If you have a story to share, call 44919919 or WhatsApp us at 8100919919.
