Union minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Thakur inaugurated the Film Technology Exhibition at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on Monday.

Leading companies will get to showcase the latest technology in filmmaking at the exhibition. The exhibition takes film enthusiasts through the latest technology in filmmaking and storytelling, and how it helps enrich the viewing experience.

Sandeep Shahare, director of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), said, “The first edition of the Film Technology Exhibition has brought in the best tech in film production as part of the festival. This is a golden opportunity for film students and professionals to learn about the latest technologies in the market.”

Brands like Sony, Canon, Zeiss, Red, Leica, Altas, DZO, Aputure Lights and Hansa Cine Equipment will showcase their technology at the exhibition. The technology on display includes cameras, lenses, lights, grips, colour grading software, animation, VFX, AR, VR, audio monitors, acoustics, real-time dubbing, talk-backs, preservation and restoration.

The Film Technology Exhibition is open from 11 am to 7 pm between November 21 and 27 at the Football Ground, D.B. Road, Panaji.

Thakur also inaugurated the 53-Hour Challenge on Monday. The challenge gives an opportunity to 75 creative minds chosen from over 1000 applicants to showcase their filmmaking talent. The 75 filmmakers will have to create short films based on the India@100 theme within 53 hours as a part of the competition. At the inauguration, Thakur highlighted that the competition will provide the participants an opportunity to create networks, hone their talent, learn from the best and move forward in their careers.
