The music video for a track from Taylor Swift’s upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department will drop at 8pm ET (5.30am IST) on April 19, the singer-songwriter announced on Wednesday through a cryptic video offering a sneak peek into the timetable of the much-awaited album on Instagram.

The video begins with a shot of a wall clock striking 2 o’clock in Taylor’s living room where her Midnights album and other records are scattered around. The centre table is strewn with pens, papers and books, while crumpled notes and vinyl records lie on the floor.

After giving a glimpse of some framed photographs on the wall, the camera takes us through a white hallway into ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ room. The door opens to an office setting with typewriters. We can also notice another clock with the time showing 2 o’clock.

Right underneath the clock, a white bulletin board showcases the timetable for April 19, the day when the album will be released. “The Tortured Poets Department Release Day,” the box reads. “8 p.m. ET. Music video release,” the note at the bottom reveals. Fourteen tally marks appear underneath the note, prompting even more intrigue over the album.

The routine for Saturday right beside the box for April 19 reads “Record Store Day”, which was shown for only a split second.

“The TTPD Timetable,” the Lover singer captioned her post.

Speculations were rife by Swifties on X (formerly Twitter) soon after the cryptic video was shared. The fans joined hands to collectively decode the 2 o’clock reference in the video.

A fan speculated that the fourteen tally marks hint at the music video being that of the track Fortnight. “Music video is most likely for ‘Fortnight.’ There are 14 tally marks - which are often used by prisoners to mark the passing of days,” she wrote.

The Tortured Poets Department consists of 16 tracks and a bonus song titled Fortnight. While Fortnight will feature rapper Post Malone, Florida will see Taylor joining hands with the rock band Florence and the Machine.

The Blank Space singer had announced the release of her new album in her acceptance speech at the 66th Grammy Awards after receiving the golden gramophone for best pop vocal album for Midnights this year.
