SVF dropped the trailer for Raj Chakrabarty’s upcoming film Shontaan on Friday. Set for a December release worldwide, the film delves deep into the intricacies of familial relationships.

The two-minute-40-second trailer opens with a courtroom scene. Subhashree Ganguly plays a lawyer who represents Mithun Chakraborty's character in a case against his son (Ritwick Chakraborty), on charges of parental neglect in his father’s old age. The rest of the trailer details Mithun and his wife’s trials caused due to the insensitivity of their son’s actions.

Raj Chakrabarty described Shontaan as a reflection of unspoken sacrifices and enduring love between generations. “Shontaan is not just a film. It’s a reflection of the silent sacrifices, the strength of forgiveness, and the enduring love between parents and children,” he shared.

While Mithun, who was conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award recently, was last seen playing an astrologer in Pathikrit Basu’s Durga Puja release, Shastri, Ritwick Chakraborty will next be seen in Porichoy Gupta, slated for a November 15 release. Raj’s last outing as a director was the romantic drama Babli, featuring Subhashree and Abir Chatterjee in the lead roles.

Dev-starrer Khadaan, directed by Soojit Dutta, is the other Tollywood big-ticket theatre release slated for December.
