Veteran actor Rajinikanth cautions against mixing religion with sports in the first teaser of his upcoming film Lal Salaam, directed by the 72-year-old’s daughter Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth.

Unveiled by the makers on Diwali, the teaser provided fans with a glimpse of Rajinikanth in an extended cameo as Moideen Bhai.

“Get ready to meet our MOIDEEN BHAI at cinemas near you this Pongal Kudha Hafiz #LalSalaam #MoideenBhaiArrivesOnPongal,” the official handle of Lyca Productions, the producers of the film, posted on X on Sunday.

The one-minute-40-second-long teaser opens with a scene of a cricket match in a rural setting. The on-field tension snowballs into a communal conflagration, leading to riot-like visuals that intercut with the cricket match.

Rajinikanth, making his entry as Moideen Bhai, takes centrestage with a stunning action sequence, set to the tunes of A.R. Rahman's music. The teaser's climax features the superstar delivering a powerful message. “You have mixed religion with sports and have poisoned the minds of the children,” he says, leaving a lingering impact.

Lal Salaam also boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth, Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Thangadurai.

Lal Salaam marks Aishwaryaa’'s return to feature film direction after an eight-year-long hiatus since her last venture, Vai Raja Vai. The film is set for a release during Pongal in 2024.
