Now to something lip-smacking. Every Saturday at 10am the station hosts Friends Kitchen, the only cookery show on radio. Needless to say, it’s something innovative. The show talks about regional and international cuisine, puts forward innovative recipes, lesser-known facts on food, health benefits, interviews with top chefs and so on. In other words, things that help build up your appetite!
I spoke to Arijit, the host of the show. And here’s what he has to say….
What do you talk about on the show?
Some say food is the currency of love and the journey for Friends Kitchen kicked off in 2013. Creating a fusion of different flavours is one of the objectives of the show. From the famous Chinese breakfast available in our city to lesser-known food stops, we talk about everything related to food.
Cooking and on radio?!
Friends Kitchen is a cooking manual on radio and it has a strong local connect. Talking about recipes through an audio medium is a challenge but we want to make you “hear the taste”!
How did it begin?
Ever since I started my radio career in 2003, I wished to do a cookery show. 91.9 Friends FM gave me the opportunity. When I talk about Railway Mutton Curry, Chicken Tetrazzini, Dak Bungalow Chicken and Pizza Margherita, I also trace their history. Things like samosa, jalebi and naan may sound Indian but their origin is not Indian!
