What kind of a dresser are you?
I am more into comfy and casual dressing. Most of the time you’ll find me in shorts and T-shirt or jeans and
T-shirt… clothes that I can jump around in. It also depends on my mood and the place I am going to.
What’s your go-to look for:
♦ A party: I pick up a little black dress, but if I feel a black dress will be too common then I pick up a colourful glitzy dress… glit and glam is so in. It has to be something non-fussy and something that I can slip on and go.
♦ Chilling with friends: Ripped denim shorts and baggy tees.
Your fave film look till now?
Most of it has been a mix and match of Indian and Western looks. But one look that stands out for me is the one in Har Har Byomkesh because I look completely different. I am wearing dark wine lips and saris that I have never worn before… it is a very 1940s look and I loved it. A lot of people appreciated that look on me.
How do you like your make-up?
I don’t like make-up on my skin. Right from when I wake up, I have to start putting make-up for my work, so that phobia has sunk in so bad that when I am not working I don’t like putting on make-up. I love smokey eyes, but that’s a night thing. During the day if I am going out to meet friends, I just use a BB cream on my face and that does wonders for me.
What are the beauty essentials in your handbag?
A Herbalife moisturiser, a face vitamin spray from Body Shop, so that if my face looks tired I can spray it and instantly look nice, and a lip balm.
What kind of a shopper are you?
I am a crazy shopper and I love shoes, handbags, watches, perfumes and you will find all of that in abundance in my wardrobe.
Fave brands
Clothes: I am not running behind brands… if I like something I pick up.
Watches: (Omega) Ladymatic.
Shoes: Zanotti and Gucci…
I love Gucci casual pumps, they are very comfortable and I can wear them anywhere.
Perfume: Thierry Mugler.
For my daywear I like floral notes, so it is Issey Miyake usually.
Lipstick: I love nude… right now I am loving Inglot 410.
Fave shopping destination?
Has to be Dubai.
What do you buy online?
I shop online quite a bit… especially for my films. Recently I shopped six to seven changes online for a film. I especially order shoes… recently I loved a Jimmy Choo shoe in Delhi but didn’t get in my size, so I ordered that online.
Fave shopping websites?
Koovs and StalkBuyLove.
Monsoon beauty mantra?
Stay away from the rains… the rains are beautiful but they do no good for the skin and hair.
Designers you love wearing?
For the past three years, I have been only wearing Tequila Rose because I really like the pastel shades she (Pooja Prassad) uses. I love Manish Malhotra’s heavy lehngas, they look so lavish, but where will you wear them? That’s why I haven’t invested in them yet.
So maybe when you’re getting married…
No, even then I have a friend who will design the outfit for me.
So you do have a look in mind for that?
Nooo… there’s no wedding on the cards… (laughs out loud) but n number of times I have dressed up as brides for shoots, so I have an idea as to what will work and what won’t work for me.

These days girls getting married want to wear gowns instead of traditional wear for their engagements and many of the other wedding-related parties. So I made this line of gowns, moving away from my usual traditional wear line. The silhouettes are Western, but I have used very delicate resham embroidery to lend it an Indian touch. So the look is fusion. I will be taking the gowns to exhibitions in New York later this month and after that to Dubai — Jyotee Khaitan
