The theme: ‘Debi pokkher projapoti, pakhi mele dana, Hatibagan-er haate alor thikana’ is the theme of the 82-year-old puja. The pandal is decked up with shiuli phool, plastic bottles, LED lights and brass sheets. “This is our second year in Puja Premier League. Last year we were runner-up, so this year we are striving for the winner’s trophy. And we are proud to have Sreelekha Mitra as our brand ambassador,” said Saswata Basu, secretary of Hatibagan Sarbojanin.
Rooting for the club is: SREELEKHA MITRA. “I am from Jaipuria College, so this place is all about nostalgia. We used to get very little pocket money, unlike the present young generation. I remember having dosa and idli from Madras Tiffin, which is shut now. Though I live in south Calcutta, I love north Calcutta more. There is a lot more warmth in this side of Calcutta,” said the actress.
Fun and games: While the youngsters put up dance performances, the elders of the para performed a play. The Axe Signature Moment competition was also a hit among the boys.

MITALI KANKURGACHHI

Where: Kankurgachhi
The theme: ‘Upasana’. The Durga idol at the 80-year-old puja has been created by Arun Pal. “As per the theme, we have used all kinds of ingredients required in Durga Puja to deck up the pandal. We are immensely happy to have actor Jisshu Sengupta amongst us. You can well imagine from the enthusiasm of the club members that we are big fans. And we are excited to participate in Puja Premier League for the first time. It’s a prestigious thing for the club,” said Shyamal Banerjee, a senior club member, Mitali Kankurgachhi.
Rooting for the club is: JISSHU SENGUPTA “This is the first time I have come to Mitali Kankurgachhi. The pandal and the deity look beautiful. The young people of the club are very talented and I really enjoyed the evening watching their performances. I would ask people to vote for Mitali so that we can win!” said the Zulfiqar actor.
Fun and games: From dhunuchi naach to tabla, audio play to strumming the guitar, 10 para boys put their best foot forward to impress Jisshu and bag the Axe Signature Moment.
