From the poster release of Dev’s next release to Kaushik Ganguly’s upcoming collaboration with Prosenjit Chatterjee, here is a ready reckoner of all the Bengali film and web series announcements over the past week.

Poster of Projapoti unveiled

Actors Dev, Mamata Shankar, Sweta Bhattacharyya, Koneenica Banerjee, Biswanath Basu gathered at Nandan complex on Thursday evening to unveil the poster of their upcoming film, Projapoti. Bengal Talkies and Dev Entertainment Venturers are jointly producing this Abhijit Sen directorial.

Projapoti, which is set to hit the theatres on Christmas this year, will tell the story of a bittersweet relationship between a father (played by Mithun Chakraborty) and his son (played by Dev). Mamata Shankar and Mithun, who were last seen together in Mrinal Sen’s National Award-winning film Mrigayaa (1976), will share screen space again after 46 years in this emotional family drama.

Sherlock Holmes comes to Tollywood

Sherlock Holmes is coming to Tollywood. Director Sayantan Ghosal will be adapting Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles into a Bengali detective film, titled Saralakkha Holmes. Eskay Movies unveiled the first look of the movie on the occasion of Diwali.

The lead character Saralakkha, to be played by actor Rishav Basu, grew up in Kolkata but works in London. Arno Mukherjee will play Sherlock’s friend, Dr Watson. The movie will also feature Rajnandini Paul, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Shaheb Chatterjee, Kanchan Mullick and Shataf Figar in key roles.

Kaushik Ganguly teams up with Prosenjit

After the success of Lokkhi Chele, Kaushik Ganguly is returning to the big screen with Kaberi Antradhan on January 20. The National Award-winning director has teamed up with Prosenjit Chatterjee for this period drama. The director took to Twitter to make this announcement and shared a photo of him with Prosenjit and Nispal Singh of Surinder Films.

Srabanti Chatterjee will be seen opposite Prosenjit in Kaushik Ganguly’s fourth collaboration with the Tollywood star after Kishore Kumar Junior, Drishtikone and Jyeshthoputro. Koushik Sen, Ambarish Bhattacharya and Churni Ganguly will play pivotal roles in this film, set in 1975 against the backdrop of the Emergency.

Makers of Dhaka Metro return with Bodh

After receiving critical acclaim for Dhaka Metro, Bangladeshi director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury returns with yet another web series, titled Bodh. The show will stream on Hoichoi from November. The trailer of the new series dropped recently.

Starring Afzal Hossain, Sarah Alam, Runa Khan, Khairul Basar, Shahjahan Shamrat, Rawnak Hasan and Orchita Sporshia, Bodh revolves around a retired judge suffering from Alzheimer’s and haunted by past incidents.

Hoichoi sounds the scam alert

Bengali OTT platform Hoichoi recently dropped a teaser poster of their upcoming series The Bengal Scam: Bima Kando. Written and directed by Abhirup Ghosh, the series will feature Rajatava Dutta, Kinjal Nanda and Sonamoni Saha in key roles. The show was announced on September 20, on the sixth anniversary of Hoichoi. The remaining cast and crew members are yet to be revealed.
